What I liked

I understand that the Author does greatly miss and love her mother, and put enormous energy into this tribute. That was a redeeming thing to recall, and I do see this as her way of dealing with grief and loss.

What I didn't like

Make it less ribald, create a balance with empathy and enlighten the audience, to have understanding and compassion for any victim of Hoarding. Hoarding , like any Mental Illness , effects the entire family and deserves empathy or at least an attempt to understood it. This play feels like a step backwards for mental Health Awareness.

My overall impression

I walked away feeling quite disturbed to be honest. I knew it was going to be a comedy, but I felt it unfairly , and singualry poked fun at Hoarding, as if from a Safe Distanct perspective of " Hey , check out this bat shit carazy behavior, can you believe this…and that…she did" .
Its gratiflying that the author loves her mom so much, but there is a constant feeling of – at Arms Length on, lack of understanding her mom’s behavior, which was disappointing . I would have preferred balance, some compassion and empathy for Hoarding, rather than mockery. Hoarding is a serious and tragic mental health issue. Live theater does not bear the responsibity to make one comfortable, but it does bear some responsiblity to assist in learning abut ythe human experience by presenting empathic moments. I felt that was sadly missing here by a predominnace of poking ludicrous fun.

I attended last night , hoping to learn something important from this author’s journey. I do believe comedy can certainly be helpful to handle tough subjects of mental illnesses, tragedies, or suidcide even, as long as other facets of the subject are presented responsiblity… if you or your loved one needs help, there is help out there in our community ….
