My overall impression
I sat down to write this review three or four times, but all of the words I found felt really empty and not profound enough to express what I feel about this show. So I’ve finally come to this. If you know Alli and have seen her perform you already know she’s a powerhouse. Quick witted, bold, self aware, and compulsively watchable, she commands every stage she’s ever set foot on. And if you don’t know Alli and have never seen her perform, first of all what are you even doing, and secondly you should run to see her do anything at all (especially this show). But that’s all just praise for the performer, not even the brilliant writer she is. The storytelling is incredible here, it’s raw and human and honest and equal parts heartbreaking and hilarious. She bares her soul in Ice Cats in a way that I’ve rarely seen from her, and I’ve known her for over twenty years. It is brilliantly acted, and written and if you don’t see it you’ve wasted your Fringe experience. This is as good as it gets. Do not miss it.
