Monica Howe’s puppetry was a particular delight, her duck preening and prevaricating in equal measure. Joe Jordan, by contrast, characterized his duck more vocally, almost like a Vaudeville performer, and it was fun to see the two styles of puppetry play off of each other.
What I didn't like
I’m quite certain they’re geese in denial.
My overall impression
I was going to call this “Quacking for Godot” but someone else made a Godot joke so I’ll fall back to “Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Ducks.” A chill, discursive play more along the lines of a Socratic dialogue than a drama – the main action the characters take is to look, briefly, underwater, in a genuinely delightful stage effect well worth the price of admission on its own.
