I loved Katelyn’s storytelling, she is an adept and skilled performer and takes us to entire universes with one look in her eyes. She is an embodiment of joy and the softness required to survive in a hard world, she is love, she is magic….she is a bear cub safely making it across the road to find their way home.
I loved her characters and staging, I loved the Bear and her use of the puppet, he became so real to me. I love that this was a sequel, it truly made me wish I had seen the first show!
What I didn't like
I will watch anything Katelyn creates in the future, she is an absolute Fringe star lighting the dark with hope and generosity at the center of of her spirit. Thank you for a transcendent night of theatre.
My overall impression
Katelyn is a WONDER. Her commitment and fearlessness onstage are limitless. Her writing is beautiful and poetic, her vulnerability palpable and raw, she dives into darkness and light in equal measure and we are all left the better for it. Blue is such a nuanced character who contains multitudes. I love her joy and her rage. I loved every minute of it: this is by far one of the best solo shows at Fringe this year and ever.
