Callie pulls off an incredible balancing act of humor, vulnerability, two different characters, and singing in multiple genres with sure-handed finesse. The “final girl” aesthetic is a great entry point into subject matter far darker and more frightening than any movie.
What I didn't like
The simplicity worked fine, but it would be cool to see how more elaborate lights and sound could further enhance this world.
My overall impression
Final Girl: The Musical lures you in with a classic horror trope. But the result is something far more complex, funny, and heartbreaking than you expect. Callie Ott takes command of the stage and never gives it up in a compelling performance that will stay with me for a while.
