The pacing and structure of the story were great. There were a lot of quick scenes which made it cinematic, something I really enjoyed. The writing was lean. Everything was there for a purpose and it was not over-written, which sometimes happens in a mainly two-character relationship piece. But not here. And because of this writing and structure, the fast pacing worked well. There was never a dull moment or a too-long scene. The actors were terrific all around. The two leads, Christina Marie Leonard and Mona Lee Wylde, are wonderful actors whose work I have seen several times before. As usual, they did not disappoint. The supporting cast were great as well. The other four actors played multiple roles and each character was distinct and well thought out. The night I saw the show, a quick change for one of the actors led to a slight wardrobe malfunction, but that just added to the fun of the scene. It didn’t cause any problem because the actor, Alanna Topps, was committed to her separate characters. The other supporting actors, Madelyn Zambello, Rishi Arya and Jackson Gordon, made interesting character choices for each of their personas and were very enjoyable to watch.
What I didn't like
Brianna’s character could have a slower build up for the audience to see the despair and unhappiness in her life and relationship with her mother, but that might slow down the pacing of the show a bit. It would be good to see a little more of what brings her joy, emotionally, before it all falls apart. This could possibly make the ending even more impactful, though it is already a satisfying ending.
My overall impression
An entertaining story told in a fast-paced way with great acting and plenty of laughs and heart treats the audience to a fun night of theater.
