The characters felt so lived in and authentic. The mother and daughter aren’t perfect people and the play isn’t afraid to show both of them in a harsher light. Christina Marie Leonard and Mona Lee Wylde imbue these characters with angst, longing, and ultimately love. The supporting cast did terrific work as well jumping between characters and delivering some hilarious moments.
What I didn't like
I’d like to see this play expanded upon, maybe into a two hour piece. This feels like a solid start, but I’d like to see the relationships between these characters more fleshed out and fully realized.
My overall impression
Taking familial strife to new, unexpected places, The Road to Nowhere tells a humorous and heartbreaking story of flawed people trying to do better in spite of themselves. Solid performances anchor an interesting story that left me wanting to see more stories from these intriguing characters.
