What I liked
The live vulva. And the redneck’s deft understanding of it against all odds. Sarish Khan’s absolutely gorgeous candor throughout the show.
What I didn't like
The projections, gender bending the role of the host. Some more crowd back to keep the momentum going.
My overall impression
This play did not talk about anything that hasn’t been discussed many times before. But, it is always gratifying to see a South Asian creative person embody their sexuality with so much confidence and poise in the public. And that is where Sarish Khan’s Platinum Pussy stands out. The talk show format took some of the edge away from me, because the reality that a truant guest would be very promptly cut was constantly at the back of my mind. At the very least, the host could/should have been a woman, that would have amplified the humor so much more. Vimala Veera anyone. And I say this not as a fan of Bollywood, but the track could have invoked some Bollywood bangers, not because the play has a South Asian but because them tracks and their tongue in cheek sexuality is just simply wow. Overall a fun attempt.
