What I liked
Harley is one of the most unbelievably and diversely talented artists I’ve ever seen. In addition to the creativity of her shadow puppets, she’s a brilliant storyteller and a lovely singer. The incorporation of audio from her grandmother and home/backyard is a wonderful storytelling tool that truly immerses the audience in the story and the relationship with her. I’ve been thinking about my grandmother almost ever since I saw this show. The way she approaches relationships in her show, in a matter-of-fact but light and positive way, is thought-provoking in and of herself, and leaves the audience evaluating and relating their own experiences, only heightening the experience.
What I didn't like
This show is incomparable. It lives in a space all its own. I hope it never loses that.
My overall impression
This is a genuinely spellbinding piece! Harley’s warmth and peaceful presence on stage perfectly welcomes you into a fairytale space where she talks to her grandmother and shares her stories and their wonderful relationship. Do not miss this show!
