I loved the use of voiceover for dramatic moments, especially the ones under the purple fabric. The use of the flowy fabric and nostalgic toys from the early 2000’s really shows the audience how deep-rooted and long-standing these phobias really are. The variety in the scenes made for great pacing and showed different perspectives and timelines in Emily’s life.

My overall impression
My Little Phobia brings us not just into Emily’s room but right into their overthinking mind. What made this piece really special is how we get a glimpse into different aspects of her phobia and how it has impacted every facet of her life and also where it may have stemmed from. Regardless of whether audiences can relate to this specific phobia, what resonates is the importance of support for mental health and acknowledgment of one’s own fears and traumas.
