What I liked

I greatly enjoyed the design and use of the projections. The sound design, as well, was effective and well thought out. The gods were a lot of fun; their quirk of speaking in unison, and the way it was explored with the actors unseen and then later onstage, was interesting and dynamic. Costume design, too—super cool. Overall well performed, especially by Santos as Finn.

What I didn't like

Some elements of the world and story mystified me ever so slightly. The scope of this play is ambitious, especially to tackle in sixty minutes; I was occasionally lost by the particulars of the characters’ histories and relationships. That being said, it never failed to interest me. Would love to be able to get another look at this world, perhaps a more expansive one.

My overall impression

A creative, well imagined exploration of the arbitrariness of life and death. “Are our deities really omnipotent, or do they just tell us they are?” it asks, and what a fun question. Buoyed by Tiago Santos’s endearing and grounded performance as Finn, the show takes us on a wacky, unpredictable journey in search of a truth that both is and is not at the heart of things.
