I’m no stranger to escape rooms, but this was my first time having a “character” in the room for the entire duration of a run. It really added something to the experience to feel like we were immersed in the narrative from the get go, and Greg stayed in character the whole time, even while helping us get unstuck. The puzzles weren’t always 100% clear or easy, but I was truly impressed with the diversity and strategy employed.
What I didn't like
The baseball hat puzzle with team logos had some mistakes in printing & was rather difficult for those with no pre-existing sports knowledge — the print on the framed ‘reference sheet’ was rather small and placed on the other side of the room from the puzzle it was needed for. There was also a LOT of extraneous text and I was a bit miffed that I didn’t feel like I had time to actually read it all 😅
My overall impression
The Fringe’s very first escape room is a success! A baseball-themed murder mystery with well-developed lore and creative puzzle design that will challenge your cohort in a race against the clock. Definitely an experience best enjoyed with friends!
