About the Project
I will put together a performance that would discuss personal aspects of my life never before performed in a theatrical setting. Topics I would possibly cover, explore in my one person performance would be: My wrongful conviction as a child and being committed to the youth authority at the age of 15 and how that experience impacted my life and prepared me for the criminal underworld as a young adult. My time as a young drug dealer in Los Angeles, getting caught and facing 20 years in prison at the age of 25. My Fathers suicide and how that made me re-think my purpose in life. My Mothers influence on me, her addiction to heroin and her guidance on how to maneuver with the vultures in the street. I’d like to incorporate hip-hop music instrumentals from my era (1990’s-2000’s) as the soundtrack to the show. The show can have aspects of comedy, drama and/ or tragedy. As my life has had a dash of it all.
I have some experience in stand up comedy and also performing spoken word/rap music as a young man. I think building a one person show is a powerful way to get the attention of potential employers, agents and managers. Building such a show can help me attract the proper collaborators and brands, who may understand my past history, culture and personality. Allowing for better alignment with future collaborations and casting opportunities.
To close the show on a super positive note, I’d talk about how the motion picture industry became a safe haven for me and how an internship with a major Hollywood director became the compass for my creative desire, helping to guide my soul in a more enlightened, productive and legally profitable manner.
