I really enjoyed his vulnerability in sharing his experiences which offer the opportunity to empathize other beliefs, even opposing beliefs, when we’ve already accepted our “protagonist”. I also loved that although it could appear critical of religion, he shared a moment of vulnerability and happen-stance that erupted a moment of connection that we can all relate to, regardless of how fleeting it may be.
What I didn't like
There were a couple times at the end that it felt like it ended very nicely and then there was a tid bit more. I don’t think that it took away from the performance in anyway, but perhaps if there was a definitive choice on which feeling to leave the audience with, it could have a stronger impact.
My overall impression
Funny, thought-provoking, and resonant, Jon’s Just The Tip show is just the show you need to process the complexities of this moment we are in history, to playfully hold up a mirror to ourselves, to be more humble in our own thoughts and beliefs, and to be empathetic towards other beliefs and thoughts. Can’t wait to see where Jon takes this show as others owe themselves the opportunity to expose their heart and mind in such a low stakes way.
