What I liked
Rectangles is the exact wild ride it promises; its energy is intense and unrelenting in the best of ways. For the puppet enthusiasts like myself in the audience, this is basically Woodstock for wackadoodle foam dudes. Up to the very last chord you will have no idea what to expect from Rectangles and each new surprise will leave you wishing it would never end.
What I didn't like
I want my Mac to have the projections as a screensaver.
My overall impression
Maddie first pitched me the show as a “punk, clown performance-opera” and Rectangles exceeded even that by several adjectives. If you’re looking for the Fringe of Fringe and want to laugh your butt off (while pulling things out of it), there’s no other show even remotely like Rectangles. Rectangles is refreshing, silly, out-of-this-world, and yet somehow still riddled with vulnerability and scronches of honches!
