What I liked
I loved the puppetry work and the butt puppet! Really fun songs with crazy beats and definitely feels like I witnessed a performance art piece. Absurd and playful. I liked the audience interaction and having someone come and make a tower. Adding those elements make us feel part of the show and with this piece it worked really well.
What I didn't like
I wanted the microphone to work the whole time so that we could hear your voice! I think having the songs be a bit longer at times can give us more time to be in that moment with you since it is a fast moving piece. Showing us a singular villain of these rectangles with the puppet gave us an opportunity to see the hurt that they cause Maddie and would love to see him in the story even more! Could be a cool arc of the power of these rectangles and Maddie overcoming and pooping them away! Just loved that puppet so any reason to add him in I am on board!!!
My overall impression
Maddie is truly an original! A unique gross adventure of blocks and poop! Her voice is so unique and her brain is so strange. Silly, weird and original. As a people pleaser myself it is cool to see a physical manifestation of blocks being the thing that is sharp and weighs you down. When you look through the silliness of the show you realize how sad it is, which is a great way to tell story.
