What I liked
I adored the aesthetic, the music style, the interactivity, and the no-holds-barred approach. The top highlight of the show was definitely the song with the block puppet. The characterization, lyrics, and dynamic between Maddie and the puppet had me deeply engrossed (and also my eyes popping out of my head).
What I didn't like
The mic was a little low throughout quite a bit of the show, making it difficult to hear the singing and understand the lyrics to the songs! Easy fix, luckily!
My overall impression
Funny, irreverent, absurd, intense, and bewildering in the best way. “Rectangles” is that weird dream you can’t stop thinking about, to the point where you don’t see the world the same way after. The balance of silliness with elements of body horror makes for one hell of a ride that I was so happy to be on (and maybe was holding on for dear life through!)
