What I liked
The entire performance was masterful, but the Kali war dance was especially stunning! Truly stunned by the cohesion of the music and movement. I really appreciated how streamlined the narrative & historical elements were, I learned a lot and came away feeling empowered.
What I didn't like
There were some slight oddities to the video editing of the podcast interview scene, but it wasn’t disruptive and may have just been a creative choice.
My overall impression
I caught the encore performance of this award-winning solo show and I’m so glad I did — what an incredible feat of writing, performance, and righteous rage. Mayuri captivates with skillful dancing, hilarious caricatures, and a well-packaged introduction to the cultural context of yoga. This is a story the world needs to hear!
