I liked the staging and the addition of the fairy. The quicksand concept is relatable and in my opinion, an excellent choice. I enjoyed Heather’s wit and storytelling and found it nicely balanced with the genuine way she shared the more sorrowful parts of the story. I liked her moment of crowd interaction and the point she made- with a touch of drama (and sadness) and then honesty that also allowed us to laugh. I could go on and on. Seriously, well done.
What I didn't like
I might like to see a bit more of the transition to the quicksand. At a point, there was a mic issue and Heather handled it beautifully- so well in fact, I wonder if a bit (with communication with the tech about the cords) might be written into the show in the future to give homage to that part of her career.
My overall impression
This show was great! Heather kept us entertained but also kept it real as she addressed grief and loss and the realities of caregiving. She also shared parallel stories of being an adult daughter of someone who has suffered a stroke while also being a professional woman working to build a career. There was a lot in this show so many of us can resonate with in various ways.
