Humour, truth, Natalie’s performance. The original score.
What I didn't like
This show ought to reach a larger audience and should be performed in a larger venue.
My overall impression
Natalie’s writing took risks, and delivered. One hilarious narrative thread was her lusting toward various men in her mother’s health/care network, walking the line- but never a step too far. Her drooling set against a backdrop of the seriousness of her mother’s condition and Natalie’s own mental health struggles made it all the more funny.
I found it refreshing and unexpected to see Natalie do this to these men (doctors and other health care workers), given that it is too easy to imagine them objectifying her!
Natalie’s one woman show captivated the audience from the very beginning, with a riveting, and surprisingly relatable plot line. She brings magic, laughter and dignity to the story of a caregiver juggling one’s needs, health issues and isolation.
I can’t wait to see what Natalie does next. It’s hard to believe that this is her debut, her acting skill and command of the stage are akin to those of someone in the industry since childhood.
