What I liked

I know that Annie is a dancer and a poet, but I had no clue how well she could act! You can tell she put a ton of time, thought, and love into this project. The premise of the show is so unique and the way the audience is greeted and ushered into the theater brought me joy and excitement. It felt like when I was 10 years old waiting in line for the ET ride at Universal Studios. The projections are impressive and feel larger than life. Annie’s dancing is soothing to watch. I walked away from this show feeling inspired. “We pay for poison free!”

What I didn't like

There is a long pause at the end of the final dance sequence where Annie exits the stage and the audience is left alone in the dark. I think it’s a great idea to take a beat there, but a few us thought the show was over. My suggestion is to try shortening that beat.

My overall impression

Meeting #7 is a one of a kind, immersive, multimedia experience with crowd participation AND a stretch break. There is no fourth wall here – the audience is just a part of the show as Annie. Although the mood starts out fun and whimsical, this show tackles some pretty heavy subject matter. Dancing in front of gigantic, beautiful projections, Annie paints a frightening picture of where America could be headed. Meeting #7 is a wake-up call for all of us who think we’re doing our part as residents of the planet earth. The wake-up call is clear: do better! The hope that Annie offers here is that we are actually capable of it.
