What I liked
I had no relation to Annie or the performance when I saw it on Saturday 6/15 at 4PM. Annie’s commitment to the character rockets you back to every corporate training you’ve ever been forced to sit through, and the infusion of dance makes the humor and pathos land that much more. You don’t need to know much going in, except that this is one of the stand-outs of the fringe festival.
What I didn't like
Imagination is important, and sure, what a better world it would be if this production had more funding and a bigger stage. But what we are gifted in its current form is more then enough.
My overall impression
If you had to explain the reasons why our world is the way it is to an alien, what would you say? How would you make sure they survived in this brutal late-capitalist patriarchy where the goalposts constantly seem always to be moving just out of reach? Meeting #7 takes on this monumental and absurd task, with a refreshing burst of dance, humor, and beautiful projections.
