About the Project

LET ME HAMLET tells the story of a middle-aged, middle-of-the-pack actor who has not yet achieved what he yearns for—to play the title role in Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Instead, he’s been sweating it out in supporting roles for more than a decade, watching other actors “be or not be” in the spot he craves. As he questions whether he’ll ever get his chance, he must confront the possibility that he never will. The play explores a struggle all of us face—how to reconcile the life we dreamed of with the one we are given. In the solo performance as sardonic and vulnerable as Hamlet himself, Koo Park shows us that dreams, even unobtainable ones, can be lifelines. LET ME HAMLET premiered at Isaac’s Studio Theatre of the Taproot Theatre Company in Seattle in March 2023. *reviews " … The approaches vary from bold to fragile, from commanding to thoughtful, and resolve with a painfully honest and raw version … a story of delicacy and power." – BroadwayWorld Seattle “Park’s script is poignant and incredibly fluid in its transitions … passionate and human.” – Drama in the Hood *about the artist Actor and Playwright Koo Park was born and raised in Seoul, Korea.
