BROWNSVILLE BRED

Despite some technical difficulties, this piece of theater was superb! Pre-show video set the stage for the story of Elaine del Valle, a Puerto Rican child growing up in the black projects of Brownsville, Brooklyn, New York. Despite the backdrop, the story was powerful and well acted. Elaine made a believer out of me. This was a true story of overcoming adversity and becoming much more. I was on my feet by the end of the piece. Well done!... full review

BURTON (discount code seniors/students: jenkins)

A defining piece of theater, giving its viewers the "inside story" on all things Richard Burton. Told through a series of stories as Burton celebrates his 46th birthday, the play was well written and well performed. The audience was involved in the story, as most of us were middle aged, and had grown up seeing Richard and Liz from a distance. It was great hearing about it from the other side. As usual, the venue (Theater of NOTE) was impeccable, and everyone on staff there is beyond professio... full review

Back To Babylon

After seeing Babylon, I will never feel the same about high school reunions. Despite the fact that it was a solo actor show, it had the look and feel of a full cast. Each character was physically different and unique, and presented the full story in a series of parts, each told from the point of view of the character. The climax of the show was unforeseen, and left me in awe. Truly an inspiring piece of art and well worth any price of admission. I wholeheartedly recommend this show.... full review

Deicide: a Sorta Musical

When I first heard about this show, I was very skeptical - both of its content and believability. However, after watching it last night, I have a new-found respect. While I come out on the side of Michael vs. Brandon, the science vs. God controversy has never been presented in such a fun, entertaining and sexy way - and they're all going to HELL! (If you've seen the show, then you understand this reference) I recommend this show, however, make sure you have an open mind before attending - you... full review

The Most Dangerous Woman in America: Machine Guns, Coal Dust and the Making of the American Dream

Much more educational than entertaining, the piece was well done and provided information that was most relevant, given the current state of emergencies in the mining and oil drilling businesses. At times painful to hear about the horrible things done in the name of profit, the overall message was positive and reflective of the hope of most people - that profit comes second to people and the environment.... full review

Eco-Friendly Jihad

A rough performance with very few highlights. Most of the material seemed to be over the heads of the audience. Best moments were the use of familiar songs with rewritten lyrics for End of the World (as you know it) and (the earth) will survive. Worth seeing but definitely come with an open mind.... full review

T-O-T-A-L-L-Y!

This was by far the finest theater experience I have ever had. The pre-show music set the mood and continued throughout. Kimleigh is incredible - she sings, she dances, she makes you laugh! Her improv skills were evident, as she made the audience a part of her performance. The story was intensely personal and inspiring. Kimleigh and T-O-T-A-L-L-Y both deserve an award for this nugget of theater gold!... full review
