I hadn't set foot inside a church for years until I entered the Church of E.L.V.I.S.$. last week. And boy, am I glad I finally did. Markhum is a gifted performer who sends up the religious establishment, pop culture and anything else that falls under his gaze. Why was real church never this much fun? I laughed my ass off and enjoyed every minute of this show. A blast. Like nothing else at the Fringe this year. Make sure to make a little room in your heart for "The Rev."... full review

Yes, yes, yes. Best show I've seen at the Fringe so far. Check this out. Everything a great solo performance should be. Kyla owns the stage and takes us along for the ride. Full of theatrical magic and simple brilliance, "The Mermaid Who Learned How To Fly" is a transcendent, intimate, touching, funny and profound lightning rod of a play. I found "Jesus H" especially moving because of my own religious upbringing, but it is still universal in its themes, as the subtitle suggests ("for the zealot in all of us"). It is also universal in its impact. This is all credit to the fact that Mariah Freda is such a breath of fresh air as a performer. Her performance shimmers with energy, grace and specificity.
