Booze, Boys & Brownies; A Musical Journey

I saw in the big theatre at Asylum, and I found it to be quite enjoyable. It's a very personal view into the fresh off the boat actor's life in LA, which generally I would say is a bit cliche, but I think the lead actress pulled it off well. It's about the hardships of auditioning, dating, living, and being in Hollywood. The musical numbers are solid, even when they're obviously meant to be funny and there is a strip tease number that..well...lets just say I was pretty happy to be in the front ro... full review

Super Sidekick: The Musical

I loved this show, and your kids will too. Great script with both heart and humor. Slurm steals the show with his aviator goggles and a ridiculous fake mustache, but it's a solid ensemble no doubt. I saw the preview and they were already show ready. Expect this play to make some noise this year at the Fringe. ... full review

T-O-T-A-L-L-Y!

When you see the physical demands of Kimleigh Smith's role in this one woman show, you begin to wonder if you're watching a play or the Mental Circus at King King. She moves like a sixteen year old gymnast, and according her play, she's weighed as much as one hundred and ninety five pounds. This girl can move, and the energy of the performance never falters. For the majority of the play, Kimleigh relives a devastating night in her life and the post traumatic repression that blocks all memory ... full review

His Minute Hand

I attended the Saturday matinee of "His Minute Hand," and since I was show hopping, I had no idea what it was about before I entered the theater. The world of the play is vague. It's set in an unnamed Eastern European country during an unnamed war, though there is mention of Prague. It's either contemporary or set in the future, and the society's laws are both unexplained and nonsensical. In this place and time, the playwright has managed to conjure up an incredibly dramatic scenario that highlig... full review

Wet Cookies

Wet Cookies is a morbid trip on a magical school bus with free blow pops, William Shakespeare DVD commentary, Nazis, and a hand magician who pulls rabbit fingers out of his...hand. Even with a smaller matinee crowd, they managed to pull some big laughs. They lose one star due to their scene changes being a little too long, but I imagine that will not be a factor at Saturday night's free IO West Show. There are plenty'o opportunities to see these sketch comedians, so don't miss it Otherwise, they ... full review
