A delightful musical that is in fact anxiety-inducing. I feel like I've got my anxiety under control, but when Jasmine called on me to play her therapist, I spent several minutes during and after the play anguishing over whether I did it right! What a reimagining! This is a story steeped in history and nature. This is a Lady MacBeth who is wild and cautious, grieving and fiercely loving, kin to warriors and a poetess. The play is so grounded in the time and place, so immersed in historical goings-on and human emotions, that the mysticism feels somber and grounded too, rather than flighty or silly.
