Comics Reading Comics

A silly show well executed! The comedians were fabulous; the two comic issue scripts were well chosen; the props and effects hit just the right notes to elicit maximum laughter. The producers/MCs were just as funny as the actors! I was giggling and chortling the entire time!... full review

Slumber Party

The actors, the set, the dialogue - every inch of this show evokes teenage girlhood in a way that feels fun rather than stale or sentimental. The characters may not feel joy the whole time, but I certainly did! I couldn't believe it was only half an hour long! So much is packed into thirty minutes that it both flies by and feels much longer - in the best possible way. This is a GEM of a show. Can't wait to listen to the soundtrack on repeat!... full review

LA NOIR Radio

I'm a huge fan of foley artists, so this show was a delight on that basis alone! But there was so much more than that: drama on and off the air, cattiness and smooth talking and silly commercials, plot twists and enemies working together... It was lovely to both watch and listen to, which is vital for a performance of a radio show!... full review

What Women Taught Me

This show is earnest, zany, and deeply satirical. It's a history lesson! It's a two-person (three? four? five-person?!) variety show! It's a multilayered look at misogyny! It's a hoot! I laughed, I grimaced, I laughed some more, I grinned at the touching ending to a fascinating and funny show. ... full review

ROOT (Running Out Of Time)

This show takes a multimedia and futuristic approach to tackling the weighty themes of death, mortality, climate change, resource allotment, and the possibility of human extinction - and it pulls it off with aplomb. ... full review

Alps, Adieu!

This play went from unusual to unhinged in 60 minutes and I am here for it! The premise is darkly absurd, and the humor is character-based, two things I love. The writing is solid, the actors are wonderful, and the story really Goes There. Sources of inspiration include: Harold and Maude, The Addams Family Musical, and Mel Brooks.... full review

One Up: The Musical

One Up was so much fun! The music was catchy enough that I desperately want to listen to it again on Spotify/iTunes/wherever music is streaming! The costumes and choreography were on point. The story was a bit simple, but that worked beautifully for an hour-long musical. I'm not even a gamer but I followed along just fine. My partner, a software engineer, got very stressed when they discussed coding and deadlines, which just speaks to how well they nailed the authenticity. Overall, an incredible ... full review
