King of Kong: A Musical Parody

This is clearly the best show of the Fringe. This may be the best show outside the Fringe. This could be the best show of the year. The only thing that's amiss is trying to comprehend why this show isn't playing to sold out houses on Broadway and winning Tony awards. ... full review

Magnum Opus Theatre Presents

Magnum Opus Theatre and the Magnum Opus Players are truly exceptional. They perform theatrical magic and verbal gymnastics every time they perform. To get so much comedy gold out of a script that most people would have put down after reading a page is astounding in and of itself. But how they turn bad grammar, terrible spelling mistakes, and a substandard script with poor writing and confusing plot twists into solid gold is something you do not want to miss. Believe me when I say that if you've n... full review

THE OTHER F WORD

Good tight script, good tight acting, simple but effective direction. All of it good. No complaints. I was entertained from beginning to end. I somehow wanted more though. I'm not sure what, but I wanted more. There was some minor inconsistency in the writing as far as character goes. But nothing jarring. I think I wanted to learn something or to get some insight into these ladies. But that's probably my fault not the play's. The play is what the play is not what I want it to be. And what it is... full review

BEFORE A FALL

This review won't do any good, as I saw this production on closing night. But it was perfect. Brilliant script, wonderful performances, all around. Great direction and a chilling frustrating story that made me want to get out of my seat and intervene in the events that were going off the rails and nobody could do anything but watch it happen. Beautifully compelling theater.... full review

Luna Noctiluca

I have given this show a positive review. But for one reason and one reason only: Kelsie Noel Hill. Kelsie play The Woman, a modern woman who plays in a story that plays concurrently with the other story in this play which is Salome's. I'll get to that trainwreck in a minute, but Kelsie's woman is captivating, taking lessons from Salome and explaining them in a modern context and she has many parts to play as if she's at times embodying every woman ever, she whispers into the ears of the other c... full review

EXORCISTIC: the Rock Musical Parody Experiment

A show built for the Fringe. It's fun, and worth seeing just for Laura Sperrazza. All of the faults this play has, and there aren't many, are all covered up by the inventive script. It is designed for the Fringe. So when the mics aren't loud enough, or taped onto the actors' faces correctly, or the band is playing too loud because they don't have proper monitors, it's all part of the show! It's supposed to be like that! a kind of genius way to hide the flaws you know you're going to have (10 minu... full review

Best of the Fringe. Really. Go see this amazing, funny, touching, beautiful piece of theater. So so good. Great even. This is great theater. I've seen over 20 Fringe shows and this is so far and above most everything else out there. When you go to a Fringe show you expect to see a new thing somebody is trying out. This on the other hand is a fully realized play. Complete script that looks to have been extensively workshopped, a wonderful cast, highlighted by the amazing Brendan Hunt who is har... full review

Dick & Jayne Get A Life

aaron francis · June 24, 2013 uncertified reviewer
This is a wonderful new play. I have seen A LOT of shows this Fringe and most a pretty terrible, but this is a real play with real characters who learn and grow and we feel for them. Peppur Chambers is a great writer and she shows off with this piece. The acting is overall pretty wonderful, especially Nicole Adelman and Michael Hampton who play the leads Jayne and Dick. The work Michael does on Dick is worth going to the theater for all by itself. He creates a strange, socially awkward, introver... full review
