Something Like... was something I most definitely liked. Kelsey is instantly lovable, and she deals with the oft-unprofessional puppet antics with the utmost grace. I was so excited to finally see Carrot Puppet live-- I've been following his career for a while now and I'm happy to report he's as captivating as he seems. Overall, this was a lovely and hilarious meta-musical, and Kelsey's voice is undeniably incredible. ...

Drew has created a beautifully written and tragic love story-- it's at once grim, lonely, funny, and poetic. I'm reminded of some of my favorite works-- from modern podcast "Alice isn't Dead" to famous Poe story "The Telltale Heart." Drew effectively creates an unreliable narrator, a man blinded from the truth by his own booming heart. ...

Infierno is a hellish theatrical journey as magically absurd as it is beautifully tragic. I was amazed at the level of visual spectacle this show was able to achieve-- I would love to see this on a big stage one day. This piece explores cultural, familial, and spiritual questions, and welcomes the audience to consider their own morality and mortality. The writing, acting, and direction were all beautifully executed, and I'm truly impressed by this show! ...

I knew this would be a fun time, but I wasn't ready for just how fun. Riley takes committing to the bit to the next level. As Riley is panting, losing his voice, and dripping sweat portraying the tenth hobbit in half as many minutes, you can't help but fall in love with his hilarious dedication. I can't wait to be a part of the improvised group show at the end of this month!...

A high-energy, fun, and fabulous time! Roni has a contagious energy, and her stamina for performing while exercising and talking a mile-a-minute is honestly superhuman. This show felt very polished and well-directed, and the world Roni creates is distinct and full of comedic possibility. As a lesbian, I was surprised by just how much I related to the show's "boy-crazy" themes; through stories of her own experiences, Roni has crafted a show that speaks to the universally human desire to be loved a...

Caroline's stage presence and sense of humor is sharp and addictive-- her ability to pivot between points of view and pieces within the show was impressive. Caroline toys with the audience, simultaneously pushing you away and inviting you in-- embodying the issues with trust that her character wrestles with throughout the piece. This show has piss jokes and tears, silly slippers and childhood trauma; it is an exploration of deep pain delivered with a wink. I am grateful to have seen it!...

Dillis

Dillis was a wild ride, a commentary on masculinity (and also nothing at all), supremely ridiculous, and I loved every minute. Brianna is an incredibly skilled clown with an acute sense of the audience. She deftly builds and breaks tension, and invites you to play with her, all while maintaining a slight air of danger. This was expressed beautifully in the performance I saw-- in which a spider unexpectedly descended from the ceiling, and was promptly killed by Dillis (and doubly so with Dillis' i...

This relatable and heart-warming comedy is smartly performed by the endlessly charming Ava Bunn. Ava's clever use of projections and props, as well as her "funeral for hopes and dreams" framing device effectively reels you in, and reminds you of your own past selves. This show not only invites you mourn the things you used to want to be when you grew up, but it also encourages you not to give up on the real dreams-- the ones that matter. Brava!...

This show keeps you on your toes-- from broken laptops to Satan to axe body spray (is that part staying?) Mark pulls from a seemingly never-ending bag of tricks to craft a story as hilarious as it is entertaining. Utilizing an array of voices, facial expressions, and well-timed projections, Mark brings his life perspective to you, and crafts a witty takedown of people-pleasing that, ironically, will do nothing but please you. Brilliant!!...

This show is as technically smooth as it is smart and entertaining. Dan brilliantly utilizes characters, accents, props, and projections to create the world of the show, and it is impossible not to feel the heart he put into sharing this story. Missionary Positions is not only the story of Dan's relationship to religion and fundamentalism-- it is a shared catharsis that invites the audience to acknowledge their individual journeys of faith and grief. I know this show will stick with me for a long...
