HYSTERICAL

Beautiful, funny, SCARY. The best of horror and comedy. I feel that it is so difficult to portray horror onstage in a way where you actually feel that tension, but Jackie took it past aesthetic into real atmosphere. She maintains this, while also consistently and constantly being completely hilarious. I will find myself wanting to watch this show again much like I rewatch my favorite horror movies again and again. ... full review

This was the most fun experience and one of my favorite shows in all of Fringe. So funny and high energy with the absurdist through line that grounds it and really pushes it over the edge. I was laughing and clapping along the whole time, delighted by choreo and constant moments of comedy, and then teared up with emotion at a couple moments of the end of the show because of some truly beautiful visuals and a gentle, delicate final message that hit hard after an hour of fun. ... full review

I had more fun at this show than almost any show ever. Soleil is so responsive and funny and doesn’t miss a single moment. I felt like I was going insane the whole time which is my ideal reaction to watching a show. I would see this again and again.... full review

The House Always Wins

Carli is so charmingly funny in this show, I find myself rooting for her even as her haunted intentions grow darker. The music in this show is genuinely beautiful, both in composition and performance. There are seriously moments where I felt like I was being treated to an intimate performance of an acclaimed music artist’s new song. I would describe it as a folk music horror rom com which is an unexpected and completely delightful blend. ... full review

Strange Beings

Tense and full of feeling, an anatomy of a relationship told through a genre I don’t see enough in theater — sci-fi. Gripping acting kept me on the edge of my seat. Written beautifully and naturally. Complex, complete characters I truly cared about from the jump. Staging with the exact right blend of abstractions and physical props/set pieces. Big fan of this piece and would love to see more in this genre (from these creators) on the stage!!!!... full review

Country Girl Makes Do

Such a funny show that provided an abstracted yet truthful feeling portrayal of real life experiences. Getting a taste of what Sam’s “day in the life” in Mississippi was like was both delightful and at times sobering. It really inspired me to the possibilities of an autobiographical show. At the end of the day, this is a girl who always brings the party and I felt that throughout, even when the subject matter became more serious. I think this is a very special show. I will watch this one again. ... full review

So so so funny and completely ridiculous. Meg is completely delightful to watch. Not a moment wasted. The half hour is packed with comedy. A classic (??) story told in an increasingly bizarre fashion. I loved it!!!!... full review

I Am Going to Reveal Something Personal About Myself

Great satire of classic solo show tropes and so well written. I’m not going to spoil the main engine of the show, but Sarah uses increasingly inventive, unexpected, and funny mechanisms to move the show forward. Very funny and smart!... full review

Chaotic, insane, surreal, hilarious, and conceptually smart. Not one moment of this was normal in any way. I loved it! If you didn’t see companion parenthood shows Andy Andy and Bebé Bebé this Fringe, you missed out. ... full review
