Fringe & Colleges

For students and educators.

The Hollywood Fringe Festival offers an affordable container for arts students to take their work beyond the college context and become part of the larger Los Angeles arts community.

How to Perform

Just like any other artist or company, students can Register a Project Idea with the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Your project idea can be, truly, anything – a performance of a play, a film screening, a concert, a magic show, a musical, a puppet show, storytelling, an experimental piece of dance theatre – anything. This festival is uncensored and non-curated. All you have to do is register with the Hollywood Fringe site and book a venue. The staff at the Hollywood Fringe can help put you in touch with participating venues to find the right fit for you and your project.

Other Ways to Participate

  • You can become an intern. Eligibility for internship positions is currently limited to students enrolled in high school or college education as well as recent graduates (no more than one year since degree completion). Internship programs are focused during the month of June with some opportunities available in May. Hollywood Fringe interns will be working in close contact with the Hollywood Fringe staff as well as hundreds of participants, members of the arts industry, and visiting international artists. Interns will be assigned to work under the supervision of one of our staff members depending on interest, qualification, and availability. In addition to the hands-on learning experience that this internship provides, all interns are required to attend weekly Intern Seminars hosted by the senior staff of the Hollywood Fringe Festival for the purpose of learning the greater details of how to run one of the largest open arts festivals in California.
  • You can come see shows. There are hundreds of different performances in the Hollywood Fringe Festival in every manner of art you can dream up. The Hollywood Fringe Festival is one of the most affordable, most accessible, and most exciting ways to see new and different types of performance art.
  • You can network with the community. Fringe Central is not just a site for performance venues, it’s a site for meeting people, creating relationships with them, and learning more about arts in Los Angeles and around the world.
  • You can participate in our Fringe Tour program. Qualifying schools and/or classes can participate in a guided tour of the Hollywood Fringe. Every day will be different – groups will be guided throughout the festival by Outreach Director Meghan McCauley to see different shows, take tours of our venues, and learn more about what it’s like to be part of the biggest annual open arts festival in California. We can work individually with each group to find the right programming, budget, and experience.
