The Toxic Avenger Musical

An excellent piece of work from this cast of 5 with standouts being Wesley and Danny, White Dude and Black Dude, respectively, playing numerous characters each, without looking like they were going to pass out or become winded. Mad props for the stamina of the entire cast and crew! The Mayor was hilarious, Sarah has a rich, flirty voice, and Toxie rips at your heart strings--he's just trying to be a good guy. The performances are spectacular!... full review

Punch and Judy

This show relies heavily on physical comedy and comedic timing to work, and boy, does it sure have both. And a lot of it. I saw a preview, and it was tight. I was crying so hard from laughing. I cannot express how brilliant this show is. It's very low-brow humor, but it finds its sophistication within that humor. Highly recommended, but when I say it's for "adults only," I mean that sincerely. This show is very un-politically correct, but I love it even more because of it. Whatever you do... full review

Porn Rock: An Unintentional Comedy

While the show might not be so tight yet, it is hilarious, thought-provoking, and surprisingly endearing. The performances are great, and the script is well-written. Once the kinks are fixed, and the show tightens up, it will be a really strong production.... full review

I am not the biggest fan of solo performances and wasn't planning on going to any, but this was playing at a time that worked in my schedule for preview weekend, worked within my budget, and sounded interesting--and I was so glad I took a chance. This is one of the best shows I've seen at Fringe. I was so bummed when it ended. I just wanted it to keep going. The actress (Carla Delaney) is invigorating, captivating, and never once bored me with her stories or antics. I was BLOWN AWAY by how i... full review

A Useful Life in C Major

While the transitions were very awkward, it makes the music and the story behind the songs all the more endearing. What made the show awkward really helped make it funny, enlightening, and musical all in its own way.... full review

Bump in the Night: Tales of Monsters & Fools

It has a pretty good cast, and some funny and endearing moments, but the concept of storytelling through flashlights is not executed to its full potential. I went with another friend who was entirely immersed and engaged in the story throughout, so it's all a matter of opinion. For me, I was disengaging because the whole piece felt disengaged within itself, if that makes any sense. Overall, not bad.... full review

NILBOG: the unauthorized musical parody of Troll 2

spencer frankeberger · June 06, 2016 certified reviewer
The show itself is lots of fun, even if some of the cast members were not the greatest singers or the greatest at keeping a consistent beat--it adds to the hilarity and zaniness of Nilbog! The show is great, and as long as you are prepared to be crammed into the venue like sardines and expect the show to last a bit longer than expected, you should have a pretty good time. It's a riot!... full review
