Puja Mohindra
Puja Mohindra is a writer, actor, and proud Chicago native. She is a graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, the American Conservatory Theater’s MFA Acting program, and the UCLA Professional Program in Screenwriting.
Puja is most often recognized for her digital media work, including the comedic sketches she wrote and starred in: “Sh*t White Girls Say To Indian Girls” and “To Ashton Kutcher, Love Kimmy Patel.” She co-created, co-wrote, co-produced, and co-starred in the comedic web series, “Friendly Confines." The show was an official selection of the 2013 Hollyweb Festival and the 2013 LA Web Series Festival, where it earned awards for Outstanding Achievement in Writing, Ensemble Cast, and Theme Song.
Other writing career highlights include her work as a journalist, including a feature story titled “Doing The Rite Thing,” which earned a spot as a Chicago Reader cover story. She has co-written and co-edited, “Dost Thou Keep Memory,” a collection of narratives drawn from interviews with admirers of the humanitarian and spiritual leader, Dada J. P. Vaswani; this title can be found on Amazon.com.
The screenplay adaptation of A Great Dive was in final consideration for the 2013 Sundance Screenwriters’ Lab and the 2012 Mumbai Mantra Screenwriters’ Lab. Her one-woman-play A Great Dive was last seen as a selection of the United Solo Festival in New York City and as part of the EVOKE New Works Festival at East West Players in Los Angeles. She is currently working on adapting the play into a novel.
