What’s up!
My name is R. Ernie Silva.
I have a one man show I have been doing around the country for about two years now called “Heavy like the Weight of a Flame.” It’s a serio- comic piece kind of like a cross between John Leguizamo’s “Freak” and Danny Hoch’s “Jails, Hospitals and Hip Hop.” I play 16 different characters ranging from Jimi Hendrix to Richard Pryor to outback Kansas police officers all while i tell an autobiographical narrative. I also play classical and blues guitar in it as well and all in 80 minutes!
All in all, I guess you can say the story is about a Brooklyn Kid who meets the life written about in Jack Kerouac’s “On The Road”
The show has been dong quite well! I just came back from NYC with it and due to an 11 week run here in LA at the Odyssey Theater, I’m even up for an LA Weekly Theater award this month!!
I would love to come do the show at MI during the Fringe! Is this at all possible? I can also send you alot more stuff from the show if you needed it i.e. press materials, articles and reviews, etc.
