Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Miami, Adam Schlachter graduated from the American Film Institute with an M.F.A. in Film Directing, completed a Professional Certificate in Screenwriting from UCLA, and earned a B.F.A. in Film Production from Florida State University. A finalist in Esquire Magazine’s Cinema Competition for his film adaptation, “Father Figure”, he recently finished two dramatic shorts, “The Perfect Shot” and “The Stain On The Sidewalk”, and a promotional spot, “We Are All Latino”. His debut feature, “The 7”, played in the Cannes Film Market, was promoted at the Berlinale Talent Campus, and is available for distribution through Worldwide Film Entertainment. Adam has written and directed dozens of shorts, written seven feature screenplays, attended seven esteemed writing and producing workshops, and is a member of the Writers Guild of America. Currently in postproduction on an improvised feature film, “Hollywood Whores”, and preproduction on an animated short film, “The Bridge”, he is developing scripts for his next feature projects, “They Sway Toward The Sun” and “Storytelling”, which he plans to produce and direct, while continuing the CBS Directing Initiative and the NBC-Universal Writers Showcase, two television fellowships. His thesis film, “My Backyard Was A Mountain”, qualified and was shortlisted for the Academy Awards for Best Live Action Short, was the recipient of the Imagen Award for Best Theatrical Short or Student Film, screened at over one hundred and fifty international film festivals, received thirty Grand Prizes, won prestigious awards from Kodak and Panavision, and is available on iTunes. Adam lives in Los Angeles, hoping to continue to inspire his fans.
