Alexa-Sascha Lewin

Alexa-Sascha is thrilled to be returning to theatre directing with Christopher Durang’s hilarious comedy, ’DENTITY CRISIS as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival!

Alexa-Sascha is currently developing the film, KINGMAKER, as her feature directorial debut, about British maverick adventurer, Gertrude Bell, the female “Lawrence of Arabia.” Co-written with Brad Rister and produced by Vanessa McMahon, KINGMAKER was a Top-3 Finalist with the Final Draft Screenwriting Competition from over 7,000 submissions. The Little Film Company (THE LAST STATION, BEFORE NIGHT FALLS, TSOTSI, TITUS) is the sales agent.

Recent projects include TRAINERS, a comedy web series, which premiered at FOX (internet distribution through web channel Comediva), and BROKEN, a dramatic short film, starring Scottie Thompson and Dominic Rains which had its World Premiere at the Sonoma International Film Festival.

Recognized as a “talented, up and coming director,” Alexa-Sascha was invited by the co-showrunner of CSI to shadow the producing director from prep through post. She has subsequently shadowed producing and guest directors on MODERN FAMILY (ABC), LIE TO ME (FOX), CASTLE (ABC), COVERT AFFAIRS (USA), ROOKIE BLUE (ABC), and TRAUMA (NBC) – where she was invited to direct a scene between Derek Luke and Kevin Rankin in the season finale.

In 2008, Alexa-Sascha was one of eight women selected to AFI’s Directing Workshop for Women (DWW), where she directed the short crime thriller, THE HONEYSTING. Alexa-Sascha was awarded the Panavision New Filmmaker grant and the Humane Society of the United States Animal Content in Entertainment (ACE) grant. The film was selected as part of the Tribeca Film Institute’s ReFrame Collection, and received a Worldwide All Media distribution deal through Shorts International and distribution through iTunes.

Alexa-Sascha spent eight years working as a natural history filmmaker under the auspices of Masaba Pictures. Her work found her trekking mountain gorillas through rebel-infested Rwandan jungles and hanging out of a helicopter to capture stampeding white rhinos in the South African bush, and included working in television and documentaries for PBS, ABC/Kane, Discovery Channel, A & E, and the BBC.

Alexa-Sascha holds a B.A. from Wheaton College (cum laude in German and Film), and studied film at the University of Television and Film Munich, Ludwig Maximilians Universität, and Brown University.
