I was born in Roanoke, Virginia and raised in Los Angeles. I am a mixed-race AAPI writer, political organizer, husband and father of five children. I am the son of a Filipina immigrant mother and an American father of German/Irish decent. I had a tremendous love for plays and cinema as a kid. I spent most of my adult life in labor and political organizing, advocating for workers and marginalized communities in Southern California and across the country. In 2020, I served as a senior staff member on Senator Bernie Sanders’ California and New York Presidential Primary. After years on the campaign side of politics, experiencing the downfall of decorum and the rise of toxicity and hostilty in the current political climate, I decided to return to the arts with my new play, Wait and Return, premiering in Los Angeles in June.
I am the proud founder of the non-profit, Neighborhoods Rise Theater Company at www/neighborhoodsrise.org
