Yolande Boyom is a filmmaker, producer, playwright, and actress whose work focuses on shedding light on critical social issues. She is the writer, director, and lead actress of The Road to Freedom, a deeply personal and transformative project that exposes the harsh realities of human trafficking.
Yolande’s journey into filmmaking and advocacy began in 2009 while studying filmmaking in Malaysia. During that time, she courageously went undercover as a prostitute to help girls on the streets, a life-changing experience that opened her eyes to the widespread issue of trafficking. This mission deepened her sense of purpose, leading her to assist in rescues and support victims emotionally, financially, and physically.
In addition to her creative work, Yolande is the founder of Lovy’s Angels Organization, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting victims and survivors of human trafficking, and B. Angels’ Production House, a production company that highlights issues related to human trafficking and human rights through films, documentaries, and stage plays. She also holds a nursing degree and a master’s in social work, both of which she pursued to better address the medical and mental health needs of trafficking survivors.
Yolande’s passion for advocacy extends beyond film and theater. She uses storytelling as a tool to educate, inspire, and empower communities to take action against human trafficking, while also highlighting the intersections of this crisis with the LGBTQ+ community. Her work emphasizes that human trafficking knows no boundaries—it affects people regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, or background.
