Hello! My name is Kelsey Flynn and I’m an LA-based actor. For a year now I have hosted, performed and produced a live show called This Song Reminds Me Of… which is a singing and storytelling show inspired by that feeling you get when you hear a certain song and you’re instantly transported back to a specific time, place, event, person, etc. It’s my favorite thing that music does, I think it’s magic. So for a year now me and my guests do shows where we get up on stage, tell stories and then sing the corresponding songs with my amazing live band. It’s basically The Moth meets live band karaoke and the result is always a beautifully cathartic, wildly fun time.
But this is not the show I’m trying to bring to The Fringe. Well it is, and it isn’t. I want to bring the version that started it all. The first iteration I did of This Song Reminds Me Of… where I sang all of my favorite emo songs from Middle School and told stories about that time in my life. I was recently able to perform this version in NYC and a friend of mine came up to me after and said, “You should bring this to The Fringe!”
And so…here I am! The solo version of my show has been well received by my communities both in LA and NYC and I am giddy at the prospect of sharing my nostalgic, emo bleeding heart, earnest, rock show with Fringe audiences!
