Gifted with a journal at a young age to give Mom a reprieve from my incessant pondering, I learned to limit my thoughts to the page. Nearly 40 years later, contained thoughts burst from the page into poems, songs, stories that demanded to be told, and eventually to fill blank canvases.
After hearing me tell the story of my art, a director friend convinced me to create a one-woman show for stage. One single taste of being onstage was all I needed to know that it is a most magical place for me. Hopefully the audience enjoys it too, because I have plans for more shows, which is always best with an audience.
In the beginning, I thought my story was about a struggle with depression and anxiety, but through the making it became a story about cultivating courage and celebrating the whole of life.
Here’s to transformation through the telling of story!
