ilana gustafson

Ilana Gustafson is a Los Angeles-based performer. She worked as a founding member of ARTEL, American Russian Theatre Ensemble Laboratory, and is currently a founding member of commedia dell’Arte group, Studio Zanni www.studiozanni.net . She is one half of the female clown duo, Duckbits. She has toured her own work throughout the U.S. and Europe, including her one person show, I Have Consumed This Life. Her other work includes such roles as Nurse Matilda in the world premiere of John Sinner’s Happy Ending, Medea in MedeaText, The Skriker in Churchill’s The Skriker, and Cassandra in Agamemnon at City Garage and she has performed on other local stages such as Inside the Ford, Theater of Note, and Orange County Performing Arts Center . She has studied clowning, mask, and physical theater styles with Dell Arte International, Cirque School with Stephan Haves, Teatr Zar, Ronlin Foreman, Jef Johnson, and local teachers Rachel Rosenthal, John Achorn, and at Studio Six with David Bridel, and Shakespeare with A Noise Within. She has worked extensively as an arts educator to at-risk youth throughout L.A. with Bluepalm and East L.A. Classic Theater.
