#HASHTAG is a new comedy directed by Jeffrey Wienckowski and devised by The Mechanical Heart, a group of UCSD Alumni who put the show together in only six weeks. It explores the other kind of LA gridlock: the daily struggle to remain engaged in the present moment in a culture built on social media and status anxiety. Everyone is searching for their dream relationship and dream job, but at what cost? And just how much influence should you allow social media to have on your dreams? Look for my... full review

The Harry and Sam Dialogues

I am a huge fan of theatre that gets you thinking and questioning the experience, characters and subject matter presented. And I find myself, even after so many hours, still thinking about this fine production and just what reality was really being presented. I challenge you to do the same after seeing this brilliant production. The heart of this story sneaks into your consciousness slowly through the short vignettes that signify each visit Joseph has as part of a clinical medical study on trial medication for Alzheimer's. Anna runs the one-on-one sessions as clinically and sterilized as she's become, both careerwise and personally. But after a few awkward and odd visits, Anna begins to learn of the tormented and abusive past Joe has endured, along with his distress over feelings of losing parts of his past, and memo... full review

Every once in awhile you are lucky enough to see the thought provoking World Premiere play by a new playwright you truly admire. Such was the case tonight seeing “Feeding Time” by M. Nasorri Pavone, a Play in the Box production at the Art of Acting Studio, directed by Don K. Williams. Welcomed to the theater by the author who offered me a cold beer while waiting for the house to open, I read her program notes and agree with her assessment: With Los Angeles rents and the cost of living skyr... full review

The world premiere of “Jennifer Aniston Stole My Life” by Jon Courie, directed by Deborah Geffner, is taking place at the Hudson Guild Theater during the Hollywood Fringe Festival, featuring four Emmy Award winning and Tony nominated cast members. Image and Likeness LLC produced the dark and comic play. “Jennifer Aniston Stole My Life” is what you get if you took four characters from a sitcom with a heart of gold, stuck them in a Sam Shepard play and sprinkled in some arsenic. It’s the Fall o... full review

I feel like I just stepped back into 1967 and my eyes have been reopened to the power “HAIR” brought to the stage that year – a year in the midst of Vietnam War protests, free love, and the hope that love could overcome any obstacles humanity might face. So hurry – you have only one more week to catch this inspiring show by The TRIBE Productions, directed with passion and great creativity by Christopher Chase at the El Centro Theatre through June 24 as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival.
