When I heard about TIANANMEN ANNIE at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, I knew I had to see it since I visited Tiananmen Square in 2008 just prior to the Beijing Olympics and knew the immense emotional power of the place. As a college student and member of the Baby Boom generation, examining our society and working toward social revolution via protesting was always important to me.
So when I went to China, I took along my I Love Tweety tee-shirt so I could take a picture of myself proudly weari...

This very funny World Premiere one-act by M. Nasorri Pavone takes you inside the rehearsal for a contest where contestants read a personal story of how they have experienced their own Cowboy Soul, the giving of oneself for the good of someone else. Directed by Michael Keith Allen who also stars as the show's unpaid Indian intern Bodhi, the cast crackles with fully-realized characters who, at one point, break into song using whatever they can find as instruments. Samantha Barrios shines as Honey L...

I as so looking forward to seeing this play, but it seems director/actor Shila Vosough Ommi just wanted to star and change it to a Persian/Farsi comedy. Disappointing to say the least. But it appeals to her audience, just not me....

MARRY ME A LITTLE centers on two urban singles, solo in their studio apartments 2C and 3C on a Saturday night in New York City as they pass the time with secret, unshared fantasies, never knowing that they are just one floor away from each other and possibly the end of their solitary dreams.
The 70-minute one-act is perfect for the Hollywood Fringe Festival, presented with loving care by Producer/Director Janet Miller with Musical Director Corey Hirsch who accompanies the two cast members on p...

Harvey Fierstein's "On Tidy Endings" was first performed in 1987 in New York as one of three Fierstein one-acts on a program titled "Safe Sex." Set in 1987, this short and sometimes fiercely funny and very poignant study of how the universal situation of losing a loved one, took on unique new qualities in the context of the beginning of the AIDS crisis.
Whose loss is it anyway? That’s the bone of contention between a gay man and a straight woman who meet to straighten up loose ends following...

Adapted from the words and works of Truman Capote, the play TRU by Jay Presson Allen is set in the writer's New York City apartment at 870 United Nations Plaza the week before Christmas 1975. Having recognized thinly veiled versions of themselves, Manhattan socialites including Babe Paley and Slim Keith have turned their backs on the man they once considered a close confidant after an excerpt from Capote's infamous unfinished roman a clef, Answered Prayers, has been published in Esquire. Alone an...

As a life-long lover of Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shew" and now a fan of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" trilogy, I was certainly wondering how the two could be combined. Well it appears to be much easier than I thought given the exciting new production of "Fifty Shades of Shrew" at the Lounge Theater.
The all-female cast, most members of the production company Broads' Word Theatre, are able to use the Bard's exact text and make it come alive in the most BDSM connotations possible by just usin...
