Description
The Fierce Artist Award honors women and nonbinary artists who identify with the female experience and create work that ignites the stage with their truth. Their artistry is thought provoking and they have a commanding stage presence. We are looking for a performance that disrupts the status quo, deepens vital dialogue, and sparks both personal and cultural transformation. The Fierce Artist Award celebrates fierceness in all its forms.
Zero to Fierce is an artists festival in Arcata CA created to celebrate the women and nonbinary individuals in our community. After 10 years of the festival we wanted to bring exemplary artists into our community to share and witness exciting new works from innovative performers. Our intention with the Fierce Artist Award is to create impactful cultural and creative exchange between our local artists and visitors from Hollywood Fringe Festival.

Qualifications
To be considered for The Fierce Artist Award and featured in the Zero to Fierce Festival, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Women and non binary performers: women and nonbinary artists who identify with the female experience
- Diversity & Inclusion: LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and individuals from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Show Length: Ideal performances run approximately 60-75 minutes
- Tech Requirements: Shows considered will require minimal technical support. This includes minimal sound cues and projections.
- Festival Dates & Location: Applicants must be available to perform in Arcata, California during the Zero to Fierce Festival, taking place from March 1-13th (Exact date TBD upon selection)
Application Deadline: May 29th
Methodology
We have a panel of judges who will review the shows, give and discuss feedback, and festival coordinators will make the final decision.
Reward
Winners will receive a physical hand made award as well as the opportunity to perform at the Zero to Fierce Festival, in Arcata, in March 2027. Artists are compensated 70% of door sales and given a complimentary place to stay.
