Description

This award is given in honor of our treasured Hollywood Fringe community member Ella Turenne and her commitment to change the festival into a more inclusive and diverse space. In 2020, Ella became a founding member of the Hollywood Fringe Access Advisory Board, and dedicated countless hours to working with Fringe and advocating on artists’ behalf. Ella’s impact on the Hollywood Fringe can be seen all around the festival and continues to impact our community through her legacy and those she inspired.

Qualifications

- You must have a majority BIPOC and/or disabled cast + crew (50% or more) to apply for this award.
- Your show must provoke and lead to conversations of change, calls to action, and/or inhabits the idea of Artivisim* (Art + Actvisim).
- Your show’s casting and script should be authentic to the characters represented in the show, and it exists within the spectrum of joy and challenges of said community

Methodology

Selected candidate shows will be reviewed by members of the Hollywood Fringe Access Advisory Board. One show will be selected to receive the Ella Turenne Award. Our committee will be looking for shows that:
- Uplift marginalized voices
- Speak on and enhance the culture and presence of BIPOC communities and artists
- Demonstrates inclusive theatrical leadership through their production
