Judges will see as many shows as possible that apply, but will prioritize those that are the best fit for the festival.
Note: this award greatly reduces the cost of the touring opportunity, but some costs will need to be covered by the awarded artist. Please read the guidelines in full prior to submitting to ensure the opportunity is right for you.
Qualifications
Applicants must:
→ Be local to California
→ Have a show/crew of 4 people or less
→ Be willing to bring a tech to run your show (included in the four total people) or have super low tech requirements to run your show.
→ If your show is text-heavy, you must be willing to work with the Italia Off team to create subtitles for your show.
→ Be willing to travel to Catania and/or Milano, Italy in 2027 to perform your show
→ The show must be no more than two hours total, including set-up, performance, and strike
→ The awarded show would be responsible for transportation and accommodation. This award only covers festival performance cost.
→ Awarded show much obtain and cover the cost of necessary Visa’s to travel and work as a performer in Italy. (Hollywood Fringe will help applicant through the process.)
Methodology
The participating festival makes a final decision based on input from a group of adjudicators organized to see all shows that pique the partner festival’s interest and meet all requirements.
Artistic merit, producer readiness, and how the show will fit into the partnering festivals’ full program are all factors in the final selection.
Reward
This year’s award will include:
→ Free registration for participation in person at the Catania Off and/or Milano Off Festival’s in 2027
→ Venue Space
→ Marketing Support
→ Mentorship through the Festival process
→ Fringe Italia Off will help facilitate finding accommodation free of charge for the artists through their hosting program (because the hosting program is volunteer based it can’t be guaranteed)
