Description
For almost thirty years, Sacred Fools Theater Company has been dedicated to creating and presenting eclectic, wide-ranging, and highly engaging theatrical work in Los Angeles. From the irreverent to the silly to the profound, Sacred Fools remains a staple of the LA theater and Fringe communities.
This year represents the 10th anniversary of Sacred Fools (manager of the Broadwater Theater Complex) being a venue host for the Hollywood Fringe Festival. We wanted to create an award that celebrates our aesthetic and mission of creating dynamic theatre.
Qualifications
For the Sacred Fools Award for Unique Theatricality, we are seeking exceptional and dynamic theatricality. We would like to see inventive use of space and staging. We are looking for a clear visual stage language that is also slightly irreverent. A show that celebrates imagination over budget.
PLEASE NOTE: Your show must be a WORLD PREMIERE debuting at the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2026. We are looking for ensemble productions so we will not be accepting any solo shows for consideration this year.

DEADLINE FOR APPLYING IS JUNE 2, 2026
Methodology
We have a committee of Fringe veterans, theatre professionals and members from the academic world. We will be creating a document that will be used by the committee to evaluate productions. Additionally, we will be holding a “calibration” meeting in late May in order to get everyone on the same page.
Reward
Winner will get a credit to use the Broadwater space to remount their show OR to present something new. Additionally, the winner will receive a beautiful plaque.
