The ever-present female servant who also served as the stage prop master was enjoyable.
What I didn't like
Overall the actors seemed to be performing words, not feeling feelings. There were glimmers of true emotion at the play’s heightened moments but generally seemed to be a call and response, “make sure we get the timing right” approach.
My overall impression
Conor Murphy is the stand-out here as we see a stripped down black box Hedda G lamenting her life after her attempt at “growing up” (ie marrying for stability) blows up in her face. While channeling something of (thankfully still with us) legend Carol Burnett in the lighter moments, Hedda sucks the air out of the room in a way that we can’t help find suffocating.
