I was moved by the portrayals of suffering in both men and women characters. Jealousy, hubris, desperation, longing, etc were all real. Luckily, a character or two gave some small glimpse of at least potential for happiness. Well done, actors!
The staging was remarkably smooth for some complex action.
What I didn't like
Not that the players can do anything about this, but the laughter of the audience at a few moments sometimes took me out of what I was experiencing as a more serious moment. Of course, I also see that laughter is sometimes how to make light of heaviness.
Possibly could be a bit shorter, but that may improve as cast gets used to this stage situation.
My overall impression
This play was written more than 130 years ago? Yes, but there was a timeless quality, exposing some of the worst of human motivations and pain that continue today. The ensemble cast is great! This version of this Ibsen play is well worth experiencing.
